He is adept in performing complex operations both by keyhole and via a tummy cut.

Background

I grew up in Bangalore, South India and went to Medical school in Mysore. I had immense interest in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in my final year of medical school and considered specialising in this speciality. I loved the fact that in Gynaecology, I would get a mixture of medical and surgical specialities.  Manipal Academy of Higher Education, a premier institute in India appointed me for a Masters in Obstetrics and Gynaecology through a competitive exam. I spent three years here acquiring basic obstetric and surgical skills. I stood first in the University, during my postgraduate assessments and was awarded the P. Ammini Memorial Award for highest academic achievement.

I then, moved to a busy premier institute to do my senior registrar post. Working at the Jawaharlal Nehru Postgraduate Institute (JIPMER) as a senior registrar gave me exposure, confidence and interest in gynaecological surgery. Here, I felt that I had to develop the skills required to perform laparoscopic surgery and complex pelvic surgery. At the same time, British Council visited JIPMER and sponsored a selected few to come to the UK.
